QUANTUM IDEATION DAYS · NOVEMBER 25–26, 2026 · VIENNA

Identifying use cases for quantum technologies together.

At the FFG Quantum Ideation Days, researchers, corporates, and experts come together to work on industrial use cases.

ABOUT QUANTUM IDEATION DAYS

Bridging science and industry for quantum technologies in a 2-day event in Vienna.

For real-world use cases to emerge from early-stage technologies, there needs to be space to explore new possibilities, exchange across disciplines, and create ideas that bridge research and practice.

That is what the first Quantum Ideation Days on November 25–26, 2026 is designed for. The goal is to jointly develop quantum use cases and build the bridge between research and practice.

Because institutions that act on quantum today will define the industries of tomorrow.

Quantum Ideation Days are built on 3 pillars

Explore

Discover where quantum technologies can create real value for your industry.

Exchange

Dialogue between science, industry and end users.

Create

Develop concrete quantum use cases together, from first idea to tangible concept.

3 TECHNOLOGY TRACKS AT THE EVENT

Three tracks of quantum technologies at the event.

Teams on site will work on one of the following technology tracks.

Quantum Computing

Quantum Computing

Leveraging qubit properties (superposition) to solve problems where classical computers reach their limits — where complexity grows exponentially.

Quantum Sensing

Quantum Sensing

Using the subatomic properties of particles (atoms, ions or photons) to perform with a precision far beyond what classical instruments can achieve.

Quantum Communication

Quantum Communication

Encoding and transmitting information by using the laws of quantum physics — with theoretically unbreakable security.

Get involved

Two ways to take part in the Quantum Ideation Days on site.

FOR CORPORATES/SME'S AND RESEARCH TEAMS

Submit a specific quantum challenge as a Challenge Owner.

Bring a real challenge or scientific question into one of the technology tracks and develop a concrete use case together with an interdisciplinary team. Application deadline is August 31st.

Apply as Challenge Owner

Who are we looking for?

Both corporates/SMEs and research teams are invited to submit a challenge for a technology track.

Corporates/SMEs

People from corporates/SMEs who bring in a concrete entrepreneurial, operational or strategic question for which quantum technologies could add value, e.g.

  • Innovation Manager
  • Business Owner / Project Lead
  • Technology leads
  • Department leads

Research teams

Researchers (individually or in teams) from universities and non-academic research institutions who are looking for collaboration partners that bring a concrete scientific, technological or application-oriented question in which quantum technologies are a central part of the problem or solution space, e.g.

  • Researchers on quantum technologies at universities or non-academic research centers
  • Project leaders of publicly funded research projects
  • Staff at quantum hubs or research clusters

FOR FOUNDERS AND INDUSTRY EXPERTS

Work on a quantum challenge in interdisciplinary teams.

Want to work on a real quantum use case in an interdisciplinary team and learn from experts? Then register your interest individually or in teams - we will get back to you when applications are open!

Register interest as Participant

Who are we looking for?

Use Case Specialists

Quantum technology ownersin organizations

Domain expertsfrom industry

Solution Providers

(Aspiring) foundersin the quantum field

Startup teamswith a quantum focus

Researchersfrom academic & non-academic institutions

Data scientistswith expertise/previous experience in quantum technologies

At a later stage, you will be able to submit specific interest for a challenge you would like to work on. Participants are allocated to teams and challenges based on mutual interest and complementary expertise.

Why take part

Why should I join as a Challenge Owner?

Two perspectives, one shared opportunity: shape what quantum will mean for your field.

FOR CORPORATES/SMES

Turn your business challenge into a first quantum use case.

The Ideation Days offer a hands-on entry point into a future-relevant technology field that is still abstract for most companies.

Explore a next-step ready quantum opportunity for your business.

For research teams

Test your research against real industry needs.

The Ideation Days help research teams translate scientific and technological questions into tangible quantum use cases, shaped together with companies, domain experts and interdisciplinary teams.

Explore collaboration and transfer opportunities with the industry.
